Hi there,

If you haven’t seen this yet, you deserve to.

A tweet by Jabin Botsford reads “Close up of President @realDonaldTrump notes is seen where he crossed out “Corona” and replaced it with “Chinese” Virus as he speaks with his coronavirus task force today at the White House. #trump #trumpnotes.” Below the tweet are two photos: on the right a piece of paper next to Trump, on the left a close-up version that clearly shows “Chinese” superimposed over “Corona” in marker

The photo, taken by a staff reporter at The Washington Post, shows how Trump is rewriting history on the failure of the coronavirus response -- and stoking xenophobia instead of taking accountability.

According to FBI crime data, President Trump’s election caused a spike in hate crimes second only the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Recently, PBS reported that Asian Americans face, “a wave of verbal and physical attacks,” in the wake of Trump’s hateful rhetoric surrounding coronavirus.

The good news is that we’re helping to defend and expand the most diverse Congress ever, but the bad news is that nonwhite Americans -- especially Asian Americans -- are still underrepresented at the highest levels of government. With threats coming hard and fast at the AAPI community and Congress still not as diverse as the nation, we need to know:

Do you think Congress should be more diverse?

YES   NO
