Hi John,
The National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) and the NIRH Action Fund are proud to announce this year’s multi-state initiative focused on the ABC’s of reproductive freedom – abortion access, birth justice, and contraception access. NIRH and its Action Fund are investing more than $2 million across 18 states to:
- Bolster funding for later abortion care
- Repeal state abortion restrictions
- Win groundbreaking ballot measures that go beyond Roe
- Establish birth justice policy agendas
- Expand Medicaid coverage for contraception
- Ensure constitutional amendments translate to real access

When you support NIRH and the NIRH AF, you are supporting on-the-ground advocates and activists. Every year, we award a package of financial and hands-on support to a select few organizations to bolster their reproductive freedom work in states. This year, NIRH received a record number of proposals on the heels of our work to publicly call for expansive policies that transcend the Roe status quo. Meet the groups NIRH selected this year to receive our support:
-Abortion Access
California: ACCESS Reproductive Justice (RJ) and DuPont Clinic
Colorado: Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR)
Connecticut and Massachusetts: Reproductive Equity Now (REN)
Louisiana: Louisiana Abortion Fund (LAF) and The Nancy Davis Foundation
Minnesota: Our Justice
Texas: Lilith Fund, AVOW, Buckle Bunnies, and Sueños Sin Fronteras
- Birth Justice
Illinois: Chicago South Side Birth Center and Chicago Volunteer Doulas
Louisiana: LAF and The Nancy Davis Foundation
New Jersey: Perinatal Health Equity Initiative
North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia: Elephant Circle and Birthing Cultural Rigor
- Contraception Access
Colorado: COLOR
In addition to states where we are making a direct investment, NIRH and its Action Fund are supporting state advocates in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia as they work towards goals like ensuring new laws and constitutional amendments translate into expansive access for all people seeking abortion care; working with grassroots partners to build the power it takes to push for expansive policies into the future; and helping to build on-the ground capacity to create sustainable local movements.
We want to end by thanking all of the dedicated advocates who submitted proposals for NIRH’s 2024-2025 initiative. We look forward to pushing forward an expansive vision for abortion access, birth justice, and contraception together.
In solidarity,
Haydee Morales, she/her/ella
