At FairVote MN, we are inspired by the pro-democracy movement that has emerged under the weight of attacks. As we look ahead, our focus remains on electing pro-democracy, pro-Ranked Choice voting candidates to the Minnesota legislature and on defending Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) at the local level. These efforts are crucial for sustaining the momentum of this pro-democracy reform here in Minnesota and around the country.

Repeal Effort in Bloomington – We Need Your Help

All around the country there are efforts to repeal and ban RCV. It is part of a coordinated national effort backed by the Heritage Foundation and other extreme groups to roll back pro-democracy reforms. Ten GOP-controlled states have banned RCV and opponents in Alaska are attempting to repeal the RCV there. 

As they did in Minnetonka last year, RCV foes have collected enough signatures to put a question on this year’s ballot asking Bloomington voters to repeal RCV. We handily defeated the effort last year (59% of Minnetonka voters opted to keep RCV), and we will defeat it in Bloomington this year – with your help.

The facts are on our side: 

• Voters have more – and more diverse – choices on their November ballot
• Voter turnout has increased
• We’re saving tax dollars by not holding a costly, low-turnout summer primary
• We have a more diverse city council

We are proud to award our pro-RCV badge to a slate of nearly 100 pro-RCV candidates for the Minnesota state legislature this year! These candidates have earned our support by expressing their strong support for allowing more Minnesota cities, school districts, and counties to adopt RCV for their local elections. The RCV Local Option Bill fell just two votes short in the state House earlier this year and with your help, we can pick up those two votes this election cycle!  Help us make 2025 the year of RCV!
