Today we are exposing Wall Street's ties to Amazon destruction and taking action to #StopTheMoneyPipeline! Amazon Watch is taking over the morning session during Day 2 of the Earth Day Live livestream starting at 8:30 am PDT / 11:30 am EDT.
We invite you to join us on this important day of divestment. The teach-in includes indigenous youth climate activist Helena Gualinga from Sarayaku, Ecuador who will join us as we launch a new action pushing global finance giants BlackRock and JPMorgan Chase to stop funding ALL companies that are destroying the Amazon and our climate.
BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, and JPMorgan Chase, the largest U.S. bank, have both invested billions of dollars in the industries driving deforestation and indigenous rights violations in the Amazon rainforest: oil and agribusiness.
These finance giants invest in companies like JBS, a Brazilian beef exporter linked to deforestation and land grabbing, and GeoPark, an oil company trying to expand oil drilling operations in areas that overlap with the territory of indigenous peoples, despite their staunch opposition. BlackRock and JPMorgan Chase invest in these companies despite knowing that fossil fuels and deforestation are the two largest drivers of climate change.
Join us during today's livestream to hold them accountable!
