Friend -

It’s hard to overstate the magnitude of the events of the last few days at the national level, between President Joe Biden’s courageous and historic decision to pass the baton and the groundswell of grassroots support for Vice President Kamala Harris.

But we can’t lose sight of something that hasn’t changed: November’s election will be decided on razor thin margins in just a handful of states, with Michigan likely being the tipping point.

Whether or not Donald Trump is our next President—and whether Republicans control the Senate—may very well be decided by a small slice of voters here in our state.

Because of that, analysts, pundits, and reporters will be watching Michigan’s August 6th primary very closely.

They will look at it as a barometer for voter enthusiasm among Democratic and Republican base voters. Those stories, strange as it may seem, help set a tone for the race at large, carrying over into September, and even October.

On top of that, a primary election like this typically functions as a “dry run” for the voter mobilization efforts that will occur during the general election. And with changes at the top of the ticket, it’s all the more important to ensure that Democrats are able to make the most of the opportunity to mobilize our base and show enthusiasm ahead of November.

Elissa’s name will be on the ballot in Michigan on August 6th. After, we will formally know who our Republican opponent will be in November, and at that point it will be all gas, no brakes through the election.

So that’s why we’re asking you today: will you chip in to help Elissa build momentum heading into the general election, not only for our race for U.S. Senate, but for the presidential election as well?
