Dear John,
Following President Joe Biden’s Sunday announcement that he will not seek reelection, Vice President Kamala Harris has announced her intent to run for the presidency. Though far from perfect on immigration issues, President Biden’s reversal of the Trump public charge regulation, restoration of a more responsible public charge policy, and expansion of health care access for people with DACA merit our thanks. While much remains unclear in this unusual election year, it is important to note that, as U.S. Senator from California and as presidential candidate in 2019, Vice President Harris cosponsored legislation [[link removed]] opposing the Trump public charge regulation.

Health: 80+ Lawmakers Back Outreach to Immigrant Families
Coordinated by Senator Cory Booker and Rep. Joaquin Castro, more than 80 members of both chambers of Congress signed onto a letter backing healthcare access outreach to immigrant families. Specifically, the letter focuses on outreach to inform people with DACA about new regulations making expanding eligibility for health coverage through the Affordable Care Act “marketplace” system. The letter urges the Biden Administration to commit funding to media outreach and advertising, as well as funding for community-based nonprofits that work with immigrant families.
We encourage organizations represented by one of the lawmakers who signed onto the letter to post on social media thanking those lawmakers for their leadership. If helpful, we’re glad to post jointly with partner organizations using co-branded content (sample at right). If you’d like to partner with us on a thank-you post, please email Ed Walz [[email protected]] on our team. [[link removed]]
