Thank you, President Biden. Let’s elect Kamala Harris as our next president!
This past weekend, President Biden announced that he will no longer seek reelection in this year’s general election, and endorsed our vice president, Kamala Harris, to run in his stead. Democrats swiftly unified behind her; the AP reports that she has enough delegates planning to vote for her at the convention, making her our new presumptive nominee.
Vice President Harris, formerly California’s Attorney General and before that the City’s District Attorney, has been an active diplomatic player in the Biden-Harris administration as well as the 51st vote in our slim Democratic majority in the Senate.
With the angst and questions about Biden’s candidacy now behind us, we can now move forward together as one progressive movement to elect Kamala Harris as the first Black woman President of the United States.
What will you do to help elect President Harris? Find out on our Vote page, and look below for some upcoming events you can join.
KOSA is coming up for a vote in the Senate. Tell your Senator: we’re still opposed
For a year now, we’ve been warning you about S.1409, an awful bill that would censor certain topics on social media and require you to verify your age (and thus your identity) to access the internet. As usual, this comes under the guise of being “for the children,” though in reality it would harm kids by cutting them off from access to information they might need—especially transgender kids, whom the bill’s Republicans sponsors are intentionally targeting with it.
Majority Leader Schumer has announced that this bill, misleadingly named the Kids Online Safety Act, will be coming up for a vote in the Senate. Opponents include a coalition of civil-liberties groups such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and multiple LGBTQ+ groups. We are with them in opposing this dangerous bill—and we need to remind our Senators of that fact.
Since the last time we updated you on this bill, our Senator Butler has signed on as a cosponsor. We need her to get her name off of it and to vote no.
Call your Senators and tell them: Vote NO on KOSA!
