Over the weekend via social media, President Joe Biden abruptly announced that he will no longer seek re-election. Less than an hour later, he formally endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Within minutes, our nation watched the Democrat Party’s coordinated effort to ditch the primary system in order to quickly coronate Kamala Harris.

With Biden radio silent and Harris taking center stage, it’s important to remember the vital role she’s played in the Biden Administration. While the White House can always count on Kamala to deliver bizarre word salads or hysterical bursts of laughter, they’ve largely leaned on VP Harris to manage the southern border.

Yes, really. On March 24th, 2021, Joe Biden tasked Kamala Harris with “stemming the migration to our southern border."

Yet Border Czar Kamala Harris never intended to secure our southern border.

Along with President Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas, she helped orchestrate the ongoing border crisis that has devastated our great country for the last three and a half years. Under her watch, there have been more than 9.7 million illegal alien encounters and roughly 2 million known gotaways. In addition to alarming spikes in fentanyl seizures and suspected terrorists at the southern border, there have been countless heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens on innocent Americans.

Make no mistake, Border Czar Kamala Harris owns every bit of the Biden Administration’s intentional illegal invasion.

Don’t just take my word for it.

Back in 2017, Kamala Harris claimed “an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal,” called deporting illegal aliens “ludicrous,” and supported providing illegals “a path to citizenship.” During the 2020 Democrat primary debates, Kamala Harris raised her hand in favor of decriminalizing illegal border crossings and providing health care coverage to illegal aliens.

Clearly, Kamala Harris’ radical immigration policies are wrong for America. Now more than ever, we must secure our southern border, deport the millions of illegal aliens residing in our country, and put Americans first — which can only be possible under President Trump’s leadership.

It’s been more than a week since President Trump came within centimeters of being assassinated. Yet U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle refuses to deliver the answers and transparency that the American people deserve. Yesterday, Cheatle stonewalled her way through the House Oversight Committee’s hearing on the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on President Trump. During the grilling, she repeatedly refused to answer basic questions about the security plan, timeline, personnel, and crime scene — infuriating both Republicans and Democrats. In fact, after the hearing concluded, Oversight Chairman Comer and Ranking Member Raskin issued a joint letter calling for Director Cheatle to resign.

I couldn’t agree more. Director Cheatle’s gross incompetence is completely unacceptable. She couldn’t manage to answer any of lawmakers’ basic questions, routinely choosing to hide behind the FBI’s ongoing investigation. Americans deserve answers and accountability — not cover-ups and obfuscation. I’m severely disappointed in Cheatle’s pathetic performance, which only underscored the need for new leadership in the U.S. Secret Service.

Some jobs simply have a zero-fail mission. Yet on July 13th, the Secret Service’s laundry list of failures not only came close to ending President Trump’s life, but ultimately led to Corey Comperatore’s tragic death. If the “buck stops” with her and she takes “full responsibility” for the deadly security failures, it’s past time for Cheatle to take accountability by resigning her post. Thankfully, she finally did just that earlier today. While her resignation is ten days overdue, it’s certainly a step toward accountability. 

On Saturday, I had the privilege to join folks in Toccoa to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary! During the event, I delivered remarks honoring Toccoa’s rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant community. To recognize the city’s monumental anniversary, I also presented Mayor Fry with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol Building on April 11th, 2024 — exactly 150 years from the day of the city’s charter. Additionally, we commemorated the Grand Opening of the Tugalo Street Greenspace! It was wonderful to visit with folks during this exciting celebration, and I look forward to Toccoa’s residents and visitors enjoying this park for many years to come.

• H.R. 8997, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2025: This annual spending bill maintains America’s leadership in science and innovation, supports domestic energy production, improves our energy security, and counters threats to our national security.
• H.R. 8998, the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2025: This annual spending bill reins in wasteful spending, cuts burdensome regulations to reduce energy costs, safeguards American jobs, develops our natural resources, and ensures Americans’ access to public lands for recreation.
