It's time to reaffirm our decision to pray for and stand with Israel.

Dear John,

The announcement that President Biden is dropping out of the 2024 election begs the question, who is running the country?

Despite the political instability in the current administration, Pres. Biden has made it clear that he intends to finish out his term as president. He was supposed to be meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu while he's in Washington this week. Now, it seems as though their meeting won't happen.

Regardless, tomorrow, Prime Minister Netanyahu, will be speaking before a historic joint Congress.

He was invited by Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, despite a number of his Democratic colleagues taking issue with the invitation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer even went so far as to denounce the Prime Minister and call for new elections in Israel.

With reports coming out that a number of Democratic members of Congress intend to boycott the event, similar to how they boycotted his previous address nine years ago, it becomes all the more important that we reiterate why we as Christians ought to stand with Israel.

Earlier this year, Family Research Council put out a call for the Christian community to unite in prayer and stand in unwavering support for Israel's peace, prosperity, and protection. We asked churches to dedicate a portion of their Sunday service on May 19 to pray for and stand with Israel. Support from Christians and churches across the country flooded in, and over twenty-one thousand Christians and pastors like you pledged to pray and stand with Israel!

This isn't the first time FRC has called on churches and Christians to stand with Israel. Following the brutal Hamas attacks of October 7, FRC hosted a townhall on October 22 to pray for Israel's victory over its enemies and for God's supernatural peace to blanket the entire country.

Efforts like these are just a couple examples of how FRC is leading the church to fulfill its biblical calling to support Israel. Not only are we encouraging believers nationwide, we're equipping pastors with the resources they need to educate their congregations. We're also reporting the truth about Israel's war with Hamas through our daily Washington Watch broadcast and The Washington Stand news outlet -- even when the mainstream media is silent.

Will you join us in our mission to pray for and stand with Israel? Together, we can expand our reach and influence, persuade more leaders, educate more Christians, and boldly defend the faith in our public policy.

STAND WITH FRC

Some Christians may wonder why we should pray for and stand with Israel. Those who stand with Israel enjoy God's blessing, but those who stand against Israel endure God's curse. Despite the boneyard of history being filled with the latter, there is no shortage of enemies who want to see Israel destroyed even in our day.

John, you already know that the Biden administration is failing to properly stand with Israel. In fact, according to recent reports the administration is actively withholding weapons and aid from our greatest ally in the Middle East.

"The Biden administration has admitted pausing or holding up at least one [shipment of] several thousand[-pound] bombs and munitions that were needed for the Rafah engagement," Rep. Nathaniel Moran stated last month on Washington Watch.

Despite this, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that "We genuinely do not know what he's talking about. We just don't."

At a critical moment like this, when it seems like the whole world is turning their back on Israel, we must be the ones who plant a stake in the ground and declare that we support the Jewish people and their right to defend themselves.

In response to our unwavering stance in support of Israel, and our nationwide call for May 19 to be Pray for & Stand with Israel Sunday, the Prime Minister sent us a letter of thanks. He wrote:

"I thank you all for pledging your unwavering support for the State of Israel and the Jewish people at this critical time. I am particularly grateful to our many Christian friends who pray for Israel and stand with us against the wave of antisemitism in capital cities and on campuses across the US.

The protestor mobs we see today are not only anti-Zionist and antisemitic. They are anti-American. They burn American flags and replace them with Palestinian ones.

Your stance today with Israel is also a stance for America.

When you pray, you are praying for America and the common Judeo-Christian values we hold dear. Israel's war with Hamas is a war between civilization and barbarism. With God's help, and the courage of our brave soldiers, we will prevail."

We're having important conversations every day with pastors and political leaders across the country and even around the globe, equipping them with the latest information on these topics and showing them the enduring principles and biblical truth we find in scripture. Through FRC's Stand on the Word Bible reading plan, we're helping Christians remain rooted in the Word of God, so they can think and act biblically when it comes to these crucial topics.

FRC is committed to defending the faith, and that includes praying for and standing with Israel. When we stand together, we can magnify our influence, so that we can reach millions of more Christians with the truths they need to hear.

PARTNER WITH FRC

In March of this year, I took a trip to Israel to visit the areas that had been hit by the attacks on October 7. I went down to some of the kibbutzim, met with some of the survivors, and while I was there, I had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

We discussed what they were facing, and we saw first-hand what the Hamas terrorists did and the brutality that they engaged in. When we saw the evidence, I was sitting across from the Prime Minister and said: "Mr. Prime Minister, the only way you can describe it is demonic. This is a battle between good and evil."

As you know, when you're standing for truth, there is a spiritual battle that rages around you, and we're engaged in a spiritual battle today.

As we look forward to Netanyahu's address before our Congress, we need to remain cognizant of the ongoing threats Israel faces. From the on-going war with Hamas, to a potentially open war to the north with Hezbollah in Lebanon, to increasing tensions with other countries in the region, it seems that the nations are rising up against Israel.

But no matter what happens, FRC remains committed to supporting Israel, and educating likeminded Christians to do the same.

We must not abandon one of our most strategic geopolitical allies, and an ally about whom the Word of God says we will be blessed if we bless them and cursed if we curse them.
