Dear Friend,
A couple weeks ago an email came in from Patrick, a
long-time Ohio Citizen Action member. He shared that he’d been feeling
anxious and depressed about discouraging national election news and
recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
Perhaps you’ve been feeling this way too.
We understand the uncertainty and anxiety. The political landscape
is shifting quickly and it's disorienting. The future has always been
weird and unknowable, but it cetainly feels more so in recent
days.
But here’s a way to channel that anxiety into
action:
Help us energize the people we canvass to actually
follow through and vote
We used Commit-to-Vote postcards to great effect in both Issue 1
campaigns last year and want to use them again. These are statements
of intent that voters sign at the door for us to mail back to them as
reminders to vote.
Seeing their own writing
during early voting really works!
While effective, this tactic is not cheap. For one thing, the cost
of postage and printing keeps rising. More importantly, we plan to
knock on 397% more doors from July to November than we did all last
year. Our best guess is the postcards will cost about $23,000, and we
need to start printing them now.
You can invest in a strong grassroots by making a contribution today and pave the way to
victory in November.
As an Ohio Citizen Action donor, you truly make a
difference.
Together, we can navigate these uncertain times and work toward a
brighter future for Ohio.
With hope and determination,
Rachael Belz, Ohio Citizen Action CEO
P.S. We're hiring
canvassers! Do you know anyone who wants to make a
difference while making a living? Please tell them
to apply.
