Patriot,

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives held a hearing on
the attempted assassination of presidential candidate and former
President Donald Trump.

This was a unique hearing where both Republicans and Democrats
came together to condemn the failure of a top government
official.

And it was a reminder of Jack Nicholson's character in the movie
A Few Good Men: "You can't handle the truth!!"

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle refused to answer almost
every question put to her by the panel over a four-hour period
and was anything but forthcoming and transparent.

Fortunately, Cheatle resigned this morning. It was only because
her position was totally untenable. She couldn't keep saying "the
buck stops with me" and then sit there doing nothing and
supposedly having no answers.

Your demands mattered!
And now there's more you and I can do.

You see, Congress has failed time after time to hold those
responsible for misdeeds accountable (see Anthony Fauci, the
poster child for a government out of control, and former Director
of National Intelligence James Clapper who lied to Congress about
government spying).

Lately, we have seen Congress consistently hamstrung by the lack
of needed votes every step of the way, whether on holding
wrongdoers in contempt, approving subpoenas, and so on.

We saw this in attempts to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland,
Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Director of Homeland Security
Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and FBI Director Christopher Wray
accountable for ignoring congressional subpoenas.

Just this morning, the House Homeland Security Committee held a
hearing in which Cheatle, Mayorkas, and Wray were invited to
testify and share what they knew about how the almost-assassin
was able to penetrate security, fire multiple shots at former
President Trump, and kill an innocent rally-goer.

They didn't bother to show up.

Now, the House has announced it will create a new "task force" to
investigate the assassination attempt.

Reportedly the committee will be given subpoena power, which is a
good first step.

But to ensure this task force isn't a total waste of time, we
need to demand they put serious lawmakers on the task force. We
call on Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise to
include Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), who we
feel will be two of the best at getting to the truth.

The American people deserve more than business-as-usual partisan
messaging hearings. They need lawmakers with the experience and
determination to conduct a real investigation.

The vote to create the task force is scheduled for tomorrow, so
time is short: Tell Speaker Johnson and Leader Scalise to appoint
Thomas Massie and Jim Jordan to get to the truth about the
attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

And make no mistake: this was a "failed" assassination only
because the shot missed by millimeters.

The Secret Service failed to identify and find the shooter who
shot Donald Trump before he drew blood. It was only because Trump
happened to move that the shot didn't kill him.

And remember, the Secret Service is expected to protect people
from planned, coordinated assassinations by highly qualified
personnel serving hostile foreign nations.

Yet somehow a 20-year-old was able to shoot the former president
because the Secret Service wasn't paying attention?

This stinks to high heaven, and you and I MUST demand a real
investigation with real consequences. Starting with putting
competent investigators on the panel.

Click here to tell House Speaker Mike Johnson and Leader Steve
Scalise to put Thomas Massie and Jim Jordan on this task force,
so we have a fighting chance of the committee accomplishing
something.

Otherwise, we can expect more of the same old same old.

With only about 20 legislative days left before the election, the
House is just about out of time. The August recess is almost
here, and then they will all be out running for re-election.

So if they are going to have a "task force," it better have some
real investigators on it that will actually do the work.

Tell Mike Johnson and Steve Scalise to appoint Thomas Massie and
Jim Jordan to the task force.

P.S. It really is unthinkable what America might be like right
now had the would-be assassin's bullet met its target.

A nation in total chaos. Riots in the streets. A future
presidency many Americans would regard as illegitimate.

All of that was averted - by a miracle.

Did the Secret Service fail to prevent it . . . or allow it to
happen?

The American people deserve answers, and we must demand them!

Contact Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise
now and demand they put real investigators on the committee to
investigate the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
