First, I'd like to wish Muslims a blessed Ramadan and in my native Malay, Selamat ber Puasa. Please watch my video greeting by clicking on this image.

For many years, Muslims for Progressive Values have had national retreats in person over a long weekend, but given the new normal, we decided why not proceed with a virtual version during Ramadan, a time of year where community is needed more than ever.

Programming will be forthcoming and it will be interactive, informative, spiritual, musical and poetic. You will get to meet the heads of our eight chapters and their organizing committees, the many members within our communities, MPV Ambassador Blair Imani, Imam Khalfan our partner in Burundi, Dr. Azza Karam a champion of human rights faith actors, and a few other surprises! You will learn about our work on issues of FGM/C, forced and child marriage, LGBTQ+ rights and on religious freedom. You will also get an insight on our Chaplain Endorsement program from David Oliver King, the chaplain who spearheaded setting up our endorsement system and how this is an important mechanism for MPV to normalize progressive and inclusive Islamic views.

If you are interested in participating as an observer only, the retreat will be broadcasting simultaneously on our Facebook event page.
As a way to control the environment of any unwelcoming incidents, attendees will be required to register and upon doing so, we will send a unique link attached to your registration. To register click here

I look forward to seeing many of you, old and new faces I haven't met yet!

Onward and Upward,

Ani Zonneveld
