All eyes are on Project 2025 -- the extremist, far right program with the fingerprints of Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies all over it.

The good news is that while just a few weeks ago, 70% of voters didn’t know about the plan to replace our democracy with a right wing government with unprecedented presidential power, information about Project 2025 is going viral.(1)

But while the news is all over the impact Project 2025 will have on reproductive rights and immigration, one major target of the right wing groups behind the plan is flying under the radar: the environment.

So we will get to the point: Here are the top four policies Project 2025 plans to reverse our fight against climate change:(2)

1. Dismantle the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. NOAA is home to the National Weather Service and is responsible for studying changing patterns and climate science. Shutting down the agency would end decades of research showing human impact on climate.
2. Eliminate offices in the Energy Department that focus on renewable energy. No more funding or implementation of wind, solar, or other green energies.
3. Reinstate drilling for fossil fuels on federal lands. One of the main focuses of Project 2025 (and Trump has said this himself) is to go back to an age of “drill, drill, drill.”
4. Replace civil servants in the Environmental Protection Agency with political appointees. By putting Trump loyalists in charge of environmental regulations, MAGA Republicans would ensure any regulations left are never enforced.

We know that the more people know about Project 2025 and the plan for an authoritarian Trump administration, the more they disagree with MAGA.(3)
