As you may know, my background is as a businessman – not a politician – and I ran for U.S. House, U.S. Senate, and now for Governor of Indiana to get things done. 
 
I’m proud to be ranked among the nation’s most effective lawmakers. 
 
And I’m so proud to share that the U.S. Senate has passed the VA Home Loan Awareness Act I coauthored with Senator Sherrod Brown, introduced late last year to help inform our nation’s veterans about of one of the most life-changing benefits available to them. 
 
The VA Home Loan Program helps our veterans achieve the dream of homeownership – one of the most powerful ways to build a secure financial future.  
 
Unfortunately, for far too long this program has not been promoted effectively. Among veterans who choose not to use the VA Home Loan Program when purchasing a home, 33 percent say it was because they were not aware of it. 
 
This legislation would add a clear disclosure to the Uniform Residential Loan Application to inform veterans that they may qualify for a VA Home Loan.
 
Those who’ve put their lives on the line for our freedom should be able to afford a home in the country they’ve sworn to protect. They’ve earned it and deserve it. 
 
I am 100 percent committed to making sure our Hoosier veterans are able to access the benefits available to them, and I will be a relentless advocate for them as the next Governor of Indiana.
