This week, Congress will continue voting to fund the federal government for Fiscal Year 2025. I am working to get America's fiscal house in order by reducing and reprioritizing our out-of-control federal spending. The Week Ahead

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider annual funding legislation to appropriate funds to the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and related agencies. House Republicans are working to reduce and reprioritize federal spending by returning to regular order and passing twelve individual appropriations bills. Congress must prioritize fiscally conservative legislation that stewards taxpayer dollars well and puts them in places we can see a return on our investment.

Congress will also consider legislation to establish a task force on the attempted assassination of President Trump. Congress must get all of the facts to determine what potential security lapses occurred and work to make sure this never happens again.

We will also vote on the Water Resources Development Act of 2024, which would improve U.S. ports and harbors, inland waterway navigation, flood and storm protection, and other aspects of our water resources infrastructure. Specifically, this legislation would authorize a study of the replenishment of the Ogallala Aquifer and supports the continuation of the levee project in Manhattan. I am proud to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to advocate for programs that benefit Kansans.

Also happening this week, I will participate in a House Agriculture Committee hearing examining the financial conditions in farm country and another to reauthorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission; a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing examining rail safety and another to examine the Federal Highway Administration.

I look forward to another week of fighting for our conservative Kansas values and holding the federal government accountable, while working to lower government spending and secure our southern border.

Mann Listening Tour Update

Last week, I hosted town halls in Ness, Gove, Logan, Hodgeman, Clark, Meade, Gray, and Finney counties as part of my annual 60-county Mann Listening Tour. All week, I consistently heard about Kansans concerns like passing a fiscally conservative Farm Bill, reining in the federal government’s out-of-control, reckless spending, and securing our wide-open borders. I heard you loud and clear. It was great to meet with you and to receive my marching orders to serve you in Congress.

President Biden Not Seeking Re-Election

This weekend, President Biden announced that he will not seek re-election. President Biden’s open southern border, big government spending and overreach, and weaponization of the federal government has hurt all Americans. I am confident that the November elections will give Republicans success up and down the ballot. No matter the Democratic nominee, Republicans have better ideas to unite Americans and save the country. Make no mistake—Vice President Harris served as the Chief Executive Officer of President Biden’s border crisis and radical pro-abortion policies. A Harris Administration would simply be an extension of the last three and a half years. Americans deserve better.

Advocating for the Future of Aviation Talent

I recently participated in a House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation Hearing regarding the future of aviation talent. During the hearing, I highlighted the need for policy solutions that bolster a strong aviation workforce to strengthen the nation’s economy, supply chains, and national security. I also asked witnesses to address the aviation industry’s response to workforce trends, and whether Congress could work with the industry to sufficiently address those aviation workforce shortages.

Kansas has a deep history with aviation, and I am proud to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee. We must work to maintain the American gold standard of aviation by supporting the next generation of aviators.

Defending American Election Integrity

It should not be controversial to say that only U.S. citizens can vote in our federal elections. Last week, I heard from countless Kansans about their concerns with illegal migrants voting in our U.S. elections.

I was proud to support the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act which requires individuals to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. Integrity in our elections is the bedrock of our democracy, and Americans deserve to know that every legal vote counts. Congress should do everything in our power to restore Americans’ faith that they are voting in free and fair elections without the interference of non-U.S. citizens.

Only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. Period.

Fighting for a Government That's Accountable

President Biden continues to use the federal government as a weapon to go after his political opponents. From using federal agencies to register voters at official events to attacking former President Trump in our federal courts, the White House continues to abuse its power. President Biden should focus on making the government work for the people instead of attacking them.

House Republicans are fighting to end the weaponization of our federal government.

Defending Limited Government in Congress

As part of my Commitment to the Big First, I am working to cut government red tape and burdensome regulations for agricultural producers, business owners, and all Americans. I was proud to receive the Institute for Legislative Analysis' Defender of Limited Government Award. Americans need less government, not more, to get our country back on track. I appreciate the Institute for Legislative Analysis for honoring me with this award and will continue to advocate for policies that reduce government bureaucracy for Kansans.

Celebrating National Amelia Earhart Day

As we approach National Amelia Earhart Day on July 24, we honor one of the most remarkable Kansans. Born in Atchison, Amelia Earhart broke barriers and embodied the Kansas spirit of hard work and courage. Her historic solo transatlantic flight in 1932 was the result of her tireless preparation, remarkable skill, and incredible determination. It is an honor to have Amelia Earhart's statue representing Kansas in the United States Capitol. Amelia's legacy serves as a reminder that with hard work comes endless possibilities. Happy National Amelia Earhart Day!
