Dear John,
Our work to save the earth from environmental catastrophe is more critical now
than any previous Earth Day.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and Friends of the Earth has been
fighting for systemic change for even longer. We were made for this moment: We’re strategic, tough, bold and unafraid to
speak truth to power.
But we urgently need your help, before it’s too late. And today only, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar -- up to $21,000.
Please give as generously as possible to help us meet our goal and save the
planet.

The first Earth Day led to the creation of the EPA and our country’s bedrock
environmental laws , including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species
Act. Now, our President is trying to erode these hard-won protections, for the sake
of corporate greed.
Just in the past few weeks, Trump’s EPA weakened the Endangered Species Act and
enabled more lethal pesticides linked to bee declines, and the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service just decided NOT to categorize monarch butterflies as
endangered -- despite recent counts showing these essential pollinators at
near-collapse, largely due to industrial agriculture’s growing use of glyphosate
(aka Monsanto’s Roundup®) and habitat destruction.
With your support, Friends of the Earth has been monitoring and fighting back
against these attacks on bees and butterflies, which threaten our food system
and our very survival. But we urgently need more help. We need to raise $21,000 by midnight tonight,
and we’re short.
Together, we can fight the powerful pesticide industry to protect bees,
butterflies and our planet. Donate $27 or more to Friends of the Earth by
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

Pollinators are essential for most flowering plants, including a majority of the
food crops on which we rely. But Big Ag corporations aren’t concerned about the catastrophic loss of our
pollinators. They only care about profit. And the path to profit, under our
current extractive system, involves killing off anything that’s not a cash crop
-- including milkweed, the only food source for young monarchs.
Already-huge corporations like Bayer and Monsanto have merged and are now
responsible for producing Roundup®, which is destroying milkweed, and thus
monarch butterflies.
These agriculture mergers mean these companies have more power and influence --
including over our government. That means that we have to keep innovating and
building people power in order to stand a chance against increasingly huge
consolidated corporations. And we can’t just fight the problems. We also have to
put in the work now to craft solutions and build a regenerative and healthy food
system for people and our planet.
We don’t have any time to waste. And today only, your donation will be DOUBLED,
matched dollar-for-dollar.
We urgently need to raise $21,000 by midnight tonight, and we can only get there
with your help. Please, John, donate $27 or more to
Friends of the Earth today.

Our tireless, strategic activism has helped shift our food system’s reliance on
poisonous pesticides:
* Earlier this year, chemical giant Dow announced it would stop selling its pollinator-killing,
brain-damaging pesticide chlorpyrifos , after we worked with allies to push state governments around the country
to ban it.
* Thanks to pressure from members like you, we’ve convinced huge retailers and
manufacturers to stop stocking or producing products containing bee-killing
neonics, successfully transforming over 75% of the garden industry .
* Now our next phase of the campaign is changing supermarkets, starting with
Kroger, the country’s largest supermarket chain. We’ve tested Kroger-brand
foods and found many dangerous pesticides, and pressured Kroger to stop
selling food grown with bee-killing pesticides. We’ve moved Kroger to take important first steps: Kroger committed to expand
its organic food offerings and urged its suppliers to phase out bee-toxic
pesticides. But we have a lot more work to do to move Kroger and other
supermarkets to make time-bound, clear commitments to phase out toxic
pesticides and help make organic available for all!
We can keep winning, but only with your support. Remember: We’re up against the
powerful lobbying of Big Ag, and corrupt corporate cronies in Trump’s
Administration. We can only change the world together .
Please, John, donate RIGHT NOW, as generously as you
can.
