I want to take a minute this Earth Day to reflect on environmental justice, and what it means for our communities.

This generation faces an unprecedented and urgent climate crisis that threatens our economy, our national security, and our planet. But as we speak, the Trump administration is taking advantage of a pandemic to roll back important environmental regulations while the nation’s attention is focused elsewhere.

This cannot stand. Our leaders must aggressively confront human-caused climate change by transitioning to sustainable technologies and green energy. That’s why I co-sponsored the Green New Deal Resolution last year -- and why I continue to champion it today.

By investing in the development of a green economy, we can create millions of good jobs, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and secure our economic prosperity by becoming an international leader in green technologies. It's time to take bold action to protect the future of our environment and our communities. It’s time to stand up for environmental justice and practical solutions for climate change. Enough is enough.
