The House Appropriations Committee advanced several bills that, if made law, would cut FY25 funding for:

• Congregate and home-delivered meals
• Older worker training and employment opportunities
• Adult Protective Services
• Falls prevention programs
• The Social Security Administration's operating budget

Some, but not all, of these bills are expected to be debated on the House floor, and will need to be reconciled with what the Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to propose. In the meantime, it's critical that you and the people you serve understand what's at risk.

NCOA is continuing its work with Walmart Foundation to fund efforts to enroll 20,000 older adults into SNAP over the next two years. The goal is to break down barriers for older adults who say that applying for SNAP is confusing, difficult, or “not worth the paperwork.”

This month marks 69 years since the creation of Medicare and Medicaid. These programs form the basis for a lot of the health care older adults and people with disabilities receive. We celebrate their decades of success!

Dual eligibility since "the unwinding"

The end of COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) ended some waivers and flexibilities that changed Medicare coverage during the emergency. It also forced many beneficiaries off Medicaid for re-evaluation of their eligibility.

Revisit how to help older adults

The Part D Low Income Subsidy (LIS)

Medicare beneficiaries with incomes up to 150% of the federal poverty level qualify for the full LIS/Extra Help program. Use our updated chart to help clients understand whether they're eligible to save on their prescription medications.
