Resource of the Month

Civil Dialogue Toolkit

How do you use this resource in the classroom?

The civil dialogue toolkit equips students with the skills to have respectful conversations even when they disagree. This is crucial because classrooms filled with student choice and voice can sometimes lead to passionate debate and conversation. The toolkit provides a step-by-step method to help students navigate these discussions by establishing shared norms for respectful communication. These norms, created by the students themselves, build a foundation of trust within the classroom. Ultimately, a classroom built on civil dialogue fosters not only a wealth of knowledge but also the development of strong character for all students.
