John,

This year marks 50 years of celebrating Earth Day, and the theme this year: Climate Action.

Unfortunately, in those 50 years, we have not seen enough action on climate issues, with average temperatures rising annually and catastrophic weather occurrences happening at increasingly regular intervals.

In order to reverse, or at the very least, slow the disastrous effects of man made climate change, our entire world needs to shift its priorities, and fast, as scientists predict that we have less than a decade to lower emissions or some of the impacts of climate change will become irreversible.

This is why I support the Green New Deal. We need bold, comprehensive, and massive action to fight this crisis and get our emissions to net zero.

We have seen that collective action can be extremely effective, with a noticeable reduction in pollution coming from the COVID-19 Stay At Home Orders.

Will you pitch in today and help me fight for a Green New Deal? ([link removed])

John, we have a collective choice to make: Act now and act boldly, or suffer the innumerable consequences of doing nothing.

I choose to act. When I talk about a Green New Deal I’m talking about a plan for a swift transition to renewable energy. I’m talking about creating jobs in new technologies. I’m talking, of course, about leaving a habitable planet for our grandchildren.

The price of a barrel of oil went negative yesterday, and sure enough, the GOP is already talking about how we will need to bail out that industry! American taxpayers subsidize the fossil fuel industry to the tune of billions of dollars each year, and now, just watch, we’ll have a COVID “stimulus” package that gives more taxpayer money to this dirty industry.

We must do better than this.

The people of Iowa and the country deserve better, and frankly we don’t have a choice. We either clean up this planet, our only home, or nothing else really matters.

Pitch in now and let’s change the world -- together. ([link removed])

Happy Earth Day today and every day.
