Friend --
First and foremost, I hope you and your family are staying
safe and healthy during this extremely challenging time.
Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. While we are all
focused on current events, it's critical that we also remember
our commitment to saving the planet we call home.
In the Senate, I am leading the way to address the climate
crisis and propel our economy by investing in clean energy.
Climate change affects so much, including our health, our
landscapes, our economy and our livelihoods. The pandemic we are
currently facing has shown how detrimental it is to have a
president who ignores science, data, and facts.
The reality is that the longer we wait to act on climate
change, the more expensive and challenging the solutions will be.
Even still, through American ingenuity I am certain we can slow
the impacts and create a healthier more stable environment. To
make sure we do that, we need to elect leaders who believe in
science and have the courage to act.
A new generation of young people around the world recognize
that the climate crisis is not just urgent, but existential. They
are demanding that we implement solutions -- and literally save
their future.
For these reasons and many more, I've made it my mission to
protect the Land of Enchantment and our planet for our children
and for generations to come.
We are all in this together.
