MAGA Republicans in Congress have proposed cuts to Social Security, a vital lifeline for working people across my District.

I have a different idea: Make millionaires and billionaires pay into Social Security at the same rate as the rest of us.

In 2024, American workers pay into Social Security on their first $168,600. This means that while the vast majority of us contribute with each paycheck, the wealthiest in this country contribute only a fraction of their earnings.

Elon Musk finished paying into Social Security at around 12:04am on January 1st. Those earning $1 million stopped paying around Valentine’s Day.

Social Security is one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in American history. A small change would ensure its future — we need leaders with the courage to ask the wealthy and powerful to pay a little bit more.
