Friend,
We’ve made it so far. We’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel...and these next few days are critical. While we still have a little bit longer to hunker down at home, with Indiana’s stay-at-home order extended until May 1, we wanted to share with you a list of some of our favorite Indiana-related content you can stream from your couch. Check out our list! - Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam CJ Walker (Netflix) - the story of the first self-made, female, American millionaire. A continued source of inspiration, her portrait hangs in Eric’s office!
- Parks & Rec (Netflix) - everyone’s favorite show about Pawnee, Indiana — who doesn’t love Leslie Knope, Ron Swanson, Donna Meagle and the gang?
- Stranger Things (Netflix) - you can take a dive into the supernatural world of Hawkins, Indiana!
- The Middle (Amazon Prime) - Fictional Orson, Indiana is based off Jasper!
- Bob Ross: Beauty if Everywhere (Netflix) - this all-time classic was filmed in Muncie! Remember, there are no mistakes… just happy accidents.
- Good Bones (HGTV) - see what Two Chicks and a Hammer do to old houses in the historic Indianapolis Fountain Square and Bates Hendricks neighborhoods.
- Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Food Network) - ok this isn’t only about Indiana, but it has featured several Indiana restaurants in Flavortown!
- Saved By the Bell (Hulu) - this one might be a stretch, but the first season was set in Indianapolis and called Good Morning Miss Bliss!
- Eva A-7063, The Story of Eva Kor (PBS) - this is truly an amazing story of perseverance and courage. Eva was a dear friend of Governor Holcomb’s. You can find this documentary here.
- The Music Makers of Gennett Records (PBS) - Curious about the history of Gennett Records? Find out what some of the early 20th Century’s biggest names in music recorded in Richmond.
- Ernie Pyle, Life in the Trenches (PBS) - The life story of the renowned war correspondent and legendary Hoosier journalist. You can watch the documentary here.
And this is just the start -- there’s a ton of free content available to stream or download through public broadcasting and your local library. We hope these shows will provide you with an Indiana-themed escape while you’re holding down the fort. As always, stay safe and stay healthy. You’ll be hearing from us soon.
