Hi John,

[Note: we’re currently $854 behind today’s fundraising goal. We need to raise money for yard signs. Please rush a donation right now if you can.]

WA-06 political lore has it that in 1990, when progressive Mike Collier ran against Kilmer’s corporate predecessor Norm Dicks, Dicks was none too pleased about Collier’s yard sign operation. For the 4th of July Freedom Fair in Tacoma that year, Collier arranged for all his supporters on the main road leading to the fair to put Collier signs in their yards.

EVERYONE driving to the fair saw them lining the street like a welcoming party.

Can’t have that!

It actually ended up in a legal battle that Collier won at the Washington Supreme Court in a case titled Collier v. City of Tacoma.

Yard signs are important!

They show support for the campaign across the district, and they let people in high-traffic areas discover the campaign. We’re identifying key areas in the district where our signs will be seen by the highest number of people.

When I emailed you a couple weeks ago about yard signs, we didn’t raise enough to buy them. So I’m asking again: could you donate $5 now? $5 buys one yard sign, which means hundreds or thousands of voters discovering the campaign, thanks to you.

If you can, please give $5 now and fund a yard sign for us:

Thank you for all you do! I couldn’t do this without your help.
