Keep up the pressure! Dear friend, For the last two weeks, we have been raising the alarm over the fact that Big Marijuana was pushing to receive a taxpayer-funded bailout in the upcoming “Phase Four” of coronavirus stimulus. As you know, the marijuana industry has been kicking and screaming in protest against anyone who dared attempt to shut the doors of pot shops. While industries across the country have made sacrifice after sacrifice in the name of the common good, Big Pot has unleashed its army of lobbyists and lawyers upon lawmakers to reverse any and all restrictions placed upon it. The fact is, not a single dime of federal tax dollars should be sent to an industry that has done everything in its power to stay open — and then bragged about record sales. SAM has worked overtime to discuss this with Congressional staffers and other leaders. Supporters like you have flooded the inboxes and voicemails of these leaders, too. And it has been very effective. Yesterday, Congressional leaders agreed to pass the next stimulus bill containing billions of dollars in loans and other aid to small businesses and hospitals — and not a dime in aid to the pot profiteers. This is a massive achievement. But we mustn’t rest on our laurels just yet. It has been reported that while the industry missed its shot in this round of aid, they are pulling out all the stops in an attempt to get their hands on a bailout in the next round of aid that is expected to be put together sometime in the coming days. We must continue to beat the drum against this. Click here to send your representatives in Congress a letter demanding they reject this push from Big Pot. We must focus our aid efforts on industries that are on the brink of collapse, not ones that are bragging about being labeled “essential” and raking in record profits. Once you’ve sent your letter, please consider chipping in to help us continue going in this fight by clicking here. As you know, Big Marijuana has practically unlimited resources as it is dead set to become the next Big Tobacco. It is up to supporters such as yourself to help prevent this.
