Statement on President Biden
Dear John —
The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind and as the cliche goes “unprecedented,” with President Joe Biden suspending his re-election campaign.
I am deeply grateful to President Biden for leading our country the past four years and his record of major legislative achievements. President Biden is a true patriot. He has always put his country first, from 36 years as a senator representing Delaware, to serving as vice president, and then stepping up to run for president and defeating Donald Trump.
President Biden’s record of a lifetime of service that continued despite so many personal tragedies is an incredible legacy we should all honor and respect.
Now is the time for unity in our Party and to coalesce behind the Democratic nominee, which is already happening around Vice President Kamala Harris. I am very excited about Vice President Harris as the potential Democratic nominee. She has already made history as the first female, Black American, and South Asian American vice president when she was elected in 2020. During this year’s Primary season, Vice President Harris was supported by 14 million Democratic voters across the country.
This could be the year when a woman finally breaks through that last political glass ceiling!
Let’s do this together! Please join in working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Sign up to help canvass, phone bank, write postcards, fundraise and support our candidates in other ways.
Let’s make history right here in Morris County by winning a county seat for the first time since 1973; electing Sue Altman to Congress; and flipping towns like Boonton, Mendham Township, Morris Plains and Randolph from red to Blue!
