1) Where Does Joe Biden Rank Among America's Worst Presidents?
Joe Biden's time in the White House is mercifully coming to an end. He's a lame duck with six months to go. Shame on the corrupt Left for lying to the primary voters that he was mentally fit to serve four more years. These are the same hypocrites who whined that “Democracy dies in darkness.”
From his first days in the Oval Office, Biden governed from the far left on every issue from climate change, to radical income redistribution, to massive government expansionism, to racial politics, to a "blame America first" foreign policy, to his dangerous weaponization of every agency of government from the IRS to the State Department to the FBI to the Justice Department and perhaps even the Secret Service. He made Richard Nixon look like an amateur.
It's hard to point to a single policy that he got right. The average American after four years of his reign is $2,100 poorer. When he departs the White House, he will leave the nation weaker, more divided, more in debt, more vulnerable, and our economy more anemic than when he entered office. This was some "uniter."
Joe Biden has been in every way a horrible president. How bad? Here is our ranking of the five worst presidents of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Worst Presidents:
Woodrow Wilson
Herbert Hoover
Joe Biden
Barack Obama
Jimmy Carter
If you have a different ranking – or if we left someone out – we'd love to see it.
With Biden stepping aside as a candidate (but insisting he'll finish his term in office, despite apparent cognitive decline), Vice President Kamala Harris has shot to a commanding lead in the Democratic nomination market:
There was a much smaller movement in the outlook for the general election, in the direction of the Democrats:
We wouldn't underestimate Kamala and she is certainly an improvement over Biden. But open up her closet and the baggage falls all over the living room floor. Her weird policy positions are far outside the mainstream.
Here is a helpful highlight reel from our friends at Americans for Tax Reform. They collected nine quotes in 45 seconds:
In your plan, eventually, everyone would be taken off the private plan that their company currently has? "Yes."
"There's no question I'm in favor of banning fracking."
Do you ban plastic straws? "I think we should. Yes."
"I am prepared to get rid of the filibuster to pass a Green New Deal."
"On day one, we're going to repeal that tax bill."
"We've got to increase the corporate tax rate."
"Estate taxes are going to have to go up."
"There will also be a carbon fee."
"So I decided I was going to start prosecuting parents for truancy."
Andrew Sullivan, a former editor of the liberal New Republic, has nonetheless been a cogent critic of the Progressive Left's excesses.
In his Substack called "The Weekly Dish," he summarizes his view of where they've taken the country:
The Democrats' Biden formula -- impose radical social, economic, and cultural change by fronting it with a moderate, easy-to-bully old man -- has unraveled as obviously as Biden's health...
The lies the Democrats have been telling us these past few years are legion: inflation won't happen/is temporary/is good for you; the Southern border is secure; "equity" is "fairness"; biological sex is a "spectrum"; Ukraine is about to win the war; Russia's economy can be sanctioned to death; political violence is entirely on the far right; children can meaningfully consent to sex changes; the only thing holding black Americans back is white bigotry; the mainstream media is fair; and women have penises.
