Happy Earth Day, Auburn!

We can't think of a better day to announce that the City of Auburn has installed two EV Charging stations in the Mechanic's Row municipal parking garage next to Auburn Hall! The stations have universal connections for electric vehicles and are ready for use.

The chargers were installed for the City thanks to generous grant funding from the folks at Efficiency Maine. The hope is to make our downtown district a more welcoming destination and to encourage more people to consider driving energy efficient vehicles. Like most parking in our downtown, these spots will be limited to 2-hours, and with the cost of electricity at around $0.13/kWh, the cost to the city will be nominal (we are told that a full day’s charge costs around $0.50 for an electric vehicle).

It's a sure sign of spring when we publish our street sweeping schedule, Auburn! Please remember that these dates are *estimates* and could change due to weather, equipment failure, etc. Also, moving your parked vehicles off the street when the sweeping crew is in your area would help us greatly! Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Nice weather is coming (we hope) and gardeners everywhere are anxious to get started. But for now, all Auburn Community Gardens are temporarily closed. Details will be shared as they become available.

Our mighty Androscoggin River is VERY powerful, especially this time of year due to seasonal runoff and snowmelt.

PLEASE be cautious when it comes to fishing, boating or even just walking along the Androscoggin River! Auburn's Riverwalk is still open for residents to enjoy (while following recommended distancing practices, of course), but please stay away from the shoreline and keep these precautions in mind:

* Supervise children at all times
* Always use a USCG-approved personal flotation device
* Respect all warning lights, sirens, signs, buoys, barriers & fences
* High water levels may persist days after rain or snowfall/melt
* Share your location information when you swim, fish or boat
* Know your physical limitations when spending time on/near water
* Unsafe river conditions like high water levels & strong currents can result in severe injury or death
