I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can’t do - when we do it together. We just have to remember that we are the United States of America.”

- President Joe Biden withdrawal announcement

The clarity Democrats have been seeking came today with President Biden’s withdrawal as the Democratic nominee for President. I can only imagine the weight of this decision for a man who has dedicated his life to the betterment of our country through public service. A job he has done honorably and fantastically, might I add. His announcement showed true leadership and humility. As Tom Nichols of the Atlantic wrote, “President Joe Biden has chosen to put his country over his own ego, a heroic decision that shows the difference between a political party and a cult of personality.”

We are the United States of America. It is worth repeating. We are united more than we realize, or care to admit, as people of this country. And now we are united to move forward together to ensure that freedom and democracy win this November. While the Vice Presidential candidate is still unknown, I am eager for anyone that has the honor to join Kamala Harris on the ticket. Let’s get to work to elect our first woman President!

On a personal campaign note - we have nine days left until the primary election. If you still have your ballot you must get it back in the mail by July 23rd.

My team and I continue our voter outreach by knocking doors and calling voters. Each discussion I have makes me proud to represent the great people of LD 5 and fills me with gratitude at the opportunity to earn their vote.

If I haven’t had the pleasure of connecting with you yet, please reply to this email to say hello and tell me your thoughts. Thank you to those who have flexed your power by voting and supported me in this election!

With kindness,

Sarah

Community Corner

Ballots and Bubbles

Our first Ballots and Bubbles event was a great success this morning! We had a room full of energetic people show up - with ballots - to discuss the ways they can actively participate to help bring the change they wish to see in our community.

Roxanna Catlett from Moms Demand Action and Isabel Hiserodt from Civic Engagement Beyond Voting brought great perspective to the issues they are focused on and why elections matter.

Thank you to everyone who attended! And to Kate from Joy Lush Club for hosting and Karlyn Bradley, the High Priestess, for the tarot readings.

Stay tuned for the next one in September.
