I know Rick Larsen has a history of playing it politically safe, but I’ll admit even this takes the cake.

Less than two weeks ago, Larsen was still firmly – vehemently even – on Team Biden.

After weeks of mounting pressure, with more and more Democrats going on the record calling on Biden to step aside, he finally withdrew from the race today and endorsed Harris to take his place as the nominee.

Larsen’s only public statements on the development tout Biden’s supposed “accomplishments.”

In an election that is already enormously consequential – where we have repeatedly been told “democracy is on the ballot” and while the question of human survival in the face of the climate emergency hangs in the balance – Rick Larsen is still carving the laziest and safest political path.

Just as he refused to stand up for marriage equality...

Just as he refused (even in the midst of a global pandemic) to support universal healthcare...

Just as he fought to deregulate aviation safety and undermined unions...

Just as he continues to block climate action...

On every single issue, Rick Larsen is LAST to the table.

Our district and our country deserves better. Working people deserve a bold and fearless champion who fights for what’s right because it is right – not because it’s popular.

The climate emergency is threatening the very survival of our species. Working people are being crushed to death by housing costs and the price of groceries. The CEOs and capital owners who bankroll Rick Larsen’s political career are squeezing every last drop out of our planet and our people that they can. And Larsen is funneling billions of dollars and truckloads of bombs to Israel to exterminate Palestinians in Gaza.

We don’t have time to play it safe. This is our opportunity to make bold, transformative change and make history by sending the first Green Party member to Congress.
