Joe Biden’s presidency has been transformational. He
accomplished more in the past four years — to bring back jobs, stand up to
big corporations, and build an economy that works for all of us — than we
have been able to get done in the last forty.

Leading us through a once-in-a-century pandemic. Getting vaccines in arms.
Passing a historic economic rescue package. Creating over 15 million jobs.
Ending the forever war in Afghanistan. Delivering a historic Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law that’s putting Americans to work rebuilding roads and
bridges and jump-starting clean energy projects. Dramatically increasing
our nation’s investment in scientific research. Naming the first Black
woman and first former federal public defender to the Supreme Court.
Getting over 200 other judges onto the federal bench, including a record
number of former public defenders on federal appeals courts. Bringing our
allies together in defense of Ukraine and in defense of democracy around
the world. Signing the first new federal gun safety legislation in
decades. Capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors and
spurring big drugmakers to apply that same cap for all their customers.
Finally allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of prescription drugs.
Capping out-of-pocket drug expenses for seniors. Securing our nation’s
biggest-ever investment in fighting climate change. Bringing the rate of
Americans without health insurance to historic lows. Putting a new tax on
massively profitable corporations that had been getting away with paying
$0 in federal income taxes. Cracking down on wealthy tax cheats. Kicking
off a free tax filing program. Slashing junk fees. Finally scrutinizing
corporate concentration after decades of the federal government allowing
monopolies to get bigger and more powerful. Enshrining marriage equality
as the law of the land to defend it from the radicals on the Supreme
Court. Canceling student debt for nearly 5 million Americans.

I am deeply grateful for his service, for the change he has made for
working families, and for the way he’s led on the world stage — with
wisdom and a steady hand.

He deserves full credit for beating Donald Trump in 2020, and his selfless
decision today gives us our best shot at doing it again in 2024. While
Donald Trump tried to tear down our democracy to maintain his grip on
power, Joe Biden willingly stepped aside in order to protect our
democracy. President Biden’s selfless action is a profound gift to the
people of the United States — and it’s on all of us not to waste it.

I endorse Kamala Harris for President. She is a proven fighter who has
been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to
abortion. As a former prosecutor, she can press a forceful case against
allowing Donald Trump to regain the White House. We have many talented
people in our party, but Vice President Harris is the person who was
chosen by the voters to succeed Joe Biden if needed. She can unite our
party, take on Donald Trump, and win in November. And next January, when
she raises her right hand to take the presidential oath of office,
millions of women and girls who see themselves in her will begin to dream
bigger.

Even with a new name on the top of the ticket, fundamental aspects of this
race will not change.

We’re still fighting for abortion rights, our democracy, an economy that
works for working people, bedrock government promises like Social Security
and Medicare, gun safety, LGBTQ+ equality, climate action — we know what
we will be voting for in November

And we know we are still pushing back against the same extremist forces of
greed, hate, and division. We are still pushing back against the radical
agenda of Project 2025. We are still pushing back against a Republican
Party that denied the results of the 2020 election they lost, and leaders
who fanned the flames of an insurrection to try to overturn those results.
That’s who we’re up against. That’s who we must defeat at the ballot box.

Now, I get it: with so much on the line in this election, it’s hard to
process everything that’s going on. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We’ve
been living through years of world-historic events. But at moments like
these, we make each other stronger.

I’m right here with you. And if we link arms, if we stay in the fight, we
will win. We won’t just defeat Donald Trump again — like we did in 2020
when the American people turned out in record numbers and elected Joe
Biden and Kamala Harris. We will build an America that works for everyone.

I wanted to share these thoughts with you — and I want to thank
you for being a part of
this team.

Elizabeth
