As you may have seen, Joe Biden is no longer going to be our Democratic nominee for president in November. I want to thank him for his decades of public service. Our country is a better place because of Joe Biden.

I've known Joe Biden for 45 years, since he first hired me to work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. For the past three and a half years, I have been proud to work alongside him as we have passed historic legislation for our nation.

Under Joe Biden's leadership, we were able to revitalize our economy and have one of the most productive Congresses in American history. From rebuilding our infrastructure, to lowering prescription drug costs, to cutting the child poverty rate in half, to investing in our middle class again, Joe Biden was a champion for our progressive values at every step and will go down as a historic president. 

It is bittersweet that he won't continue to deliver for the American people for another four years, but he made the decision that he and his family felt was the best for the country.

Now, I believe the party must unite behind Kamala Harris as our nominee. As a former prosecutor,  no one is better able to contrast with convicted felon Donald Trump. As Vice President she cast the deciding vote on much of the Biden-Harris agenda and is ready to finish the job.

With Kamala Harris leading the ticket we will defeat Donald Trump once and for all, and continue the remarkable recovery from his disastrous four years in office.
