This is an unprecedented moment in our nation’s history. President Biden has made the difficult decision to bow out of the 2024 race.

Joe Biden is a decent man who loves this country. His sense of duty for America led him to this decision, and I have no doubt he will continue to serve the American people for years to come.

Here’s what I need to say to you right now: Our main responsibility is to elect someone who is committed to democracy, justice, and a healthy, livable planet. Donald Trump has told us clearly that he wants a dictatorship from Day One, will do away with our environmental regulations and give free reign to Big Oil. We cannot allow that to happen and that means voting. Sitting it out or voting for a third party candidate means voting for fascism.

The upcoming November election remains our most critical — and potentially our last chance — to take decisive climate action to prevent the climate crisis from escalating to climate catastrophe. We cannot afford four years of damage done to our air, our water, and our health with Donald Trump and his Big Oil allies in the White House.

We need a brave president who will lead us into a clean energy future and hold corporate polluters accountable for the harm they cause to our communities and our planet. But let me be clear: This isn't just about who sits in the White House. Bold climate policy is being set in state legislatures, city councils, and county boards all across the country. So much progress has been made. We mustn’t allow it to be undone. Every half degree of warming we can prevent will save millions of lives.

Down-ballot races may not make national headlines, but they are hugely important and can act as a firewall, protecting us in the event of a worst-case scenario in November. Your support of my Climate PAC and our down-ballot races across the country is invaluable and strategic.
