Here are a few things we know about the young man who attempted to shoot former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally: he was a 20 year-old white man from rural PA; he was a registered Republican, but his political views are murky at this time; and he left behind scant clues about his motive for the shooting.
But there's something else we already know about the shooting: President Biden had absolutely nothing to do with it.
The shooter was not left-leaning; most associations of his have said he was the opposite. And in no sense have President Biden or the Democratic Party ever encouraged or condoned violence—that's for people like Trump and Lauren Boebert, as they showed us with their words and actions on January 6, 2021. (Boebert herself tweeted that "Today is 1776" in the run up to the Capitol riot.)
But as we have come to expect from the MAGA movement, facts don't matter. Repeating a false narrative over and over is how they believe they win arguments. For instance, amid Trump's hollow call for "unity," close allies like Boebert have said variations of the theme that Biden is somehow responsible for the shooting:
