It’s been a weird week.

Last Saturday, an assassin tried to shoot Donald Trump, and managed to kill one of Trump’s fans.

Then the RNC started, triumphant, and the corporate media fawned over Trump’s “new tone.” Trump chose JD Vance, an extreme hard-right former hedge fund manager who might be even more anti-democracy than Trump, as his Vice President.

John, I was pretty worried that we were sleepwalking into another MAGA era―one that could lead to the destruction of our Social Security system and end American democracy as we know it.

...and then Donald Trump began his acceptance speech.

As I watched the speech, and I watched how our community was reacting, I saw that Trump isn’t an indomitable figure in our history―he’s another windbag.

We’ve beaten him before and we’ll beat him again.

By the time the cameras panned past sleeping “supporters” at the RNC, I knew we could win.
