Dear Neighbor,
Last week, I was honored to be in Milwaukee as Donald J. Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for President. While those activities dominated most of my time, I have provided an abbreviated recap of efforts on your behalf last week. Please continue reading to learn more.
Demanding Accountability and Stopping Government Overreach: The American people deserve answers regarding the inexplicable security failures that led to the attempted assassination of President Trump. I am glad to see my colleagues on the House Oversight Committee have invited the Director of the U.S. Secret Service to testify in committee on Monday, July 22nd.
I’ve repeatedly said that the weaponized Department of Justice was abusing its power and exceeding its statutory authority in a political witch hunt against President Trump. Last week, a federal judge agreed and dismissed the case against him. It is a good step forward in uniting Americans and in restoring confidence in the fairness of our justice system.
The House is also moving full steam ahead when it comes to reining in rogue bureaucrats who are overstepping Executive Authority. For example, the House is demanding transparency and answers about the Biden Administration’s handling of terrorists encountered at the border while trying to illegally enter the country. They’ve stonewalled long enough!
Securing our Border: Our national security is at continued risk because of the Biden Border Crisis. The Senate needs to pass HR 2 so we can force the Biden Administration to enforce the rule of law and secure our border.
Combatting Inflation: Bidenflation continues to hurt Florida’s families. Since Biden took office, home insurance is up 52.9%, Baby food and formula are up 30.5%, and public transportation is up 22.3%. We need to restore fiscal sanity through America-First policies.
Challenging Local Students: The Congressional App Challenge is now underway. Middle and High School Students in Florida’s 12th Congressional District are encouraged to participate!
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team enjoyed learning about local priorities while attending the most recent Citrus County Commission meeting.
My team also was delighted to learn more about PACE Center for Girls while attending this month's Community Service Council meeting in West Pasco.
Additionally, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office provided an informative briefing at this month's Pasco Aging Network regarding services that may be useful to local seniors.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this note after helping a constituent with her IRS problem.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you!
