Last night, Donald Trump visited Michigan to rally his supporters, weeks before the Republican Senate primary. It was his 7th visit in less than 13 months because he knows he can’t win the White House – and Republicans can’t flip the Senate – without winning Michigan.

This was Trump’s first stop since announcing JD Vance as his running mate. Michigan is an interesting choice for this event, given that no self-respecting Michigander would vote for a Buckeye.
But even though he was campaigning with an Ohioan, this visit does make it clear that Trump and his team are doubling down on Michigan, and that winning the presidential and the Senate race here are top priorities.
Trump also invited Mike Rogers on stage — along with fellow Republican candidate Sandy Pensler, who announced during the rally that he was dropping out and endorsing Mike Rogers. The Republican Senate primary won’t be settled until August 6th, but this endorsement sends a signal to voters to get in line behind Trump’s hand-picked candidates.
All of this is an indication that Republicans are gearing up to throw everything they can at Michigan, and that Michigan Democrats can’t take anything for granted.
And we know that every time Trump returns, his presence is a likely boon to our opponent — in fundraising, in media coverage, and in volunteer activity.
And no matter what anyone may tell you, Michigan is a swing state – full stop. And just as we have swung toward Democrats, Michigan is known for swinging right on back.
We can't let that happen. Want to help? Chip in what you can and help send a message that Michigan is sure as hell not ready to swing back to Trump.
