It’s o-fish-ally Coral Reef Awareness Week, friend. In a moment, I'm going to ask you to chip in $5 to my campaign, but first, I want to share why this week is so important to me.

Florida is home to the only living barrier reefs in the continental United States. Our coral reefs are part of what makes our state one of the most biodiverse states in the country — and that's why it’s important to protect them.
But last summer, we had a record-breaking heatwave across Florida — and it wiped out one coral reef completely and pushed several others to the brink. There's no easy way to say this, friend: There’s a mass coral bleaching happening throughout the Florida Keys.
One thing's for sure: We need to take action to address the climate crisis that is impacting our coral reefs, and as a result, Floridians, their lives, and their property. I'm committed to saving our oceans from these growing threats and protecting our environment — and my track record proves it:
In Congress, I worked with my colleagues to bring over $200 million to the state for environmental and Everglades preservation, fought to protect our world-class beaches and blue waters, and aimed to safeguard the species that make our state so beautiful.
Unlike my shellfish opponent Rick Scott, who banned the use of the term “climate change” as governor and dismisses it as “nuisance flooding,” I'm committed to helping Florida build the climate-resilient infrastructure needed to fight climate change.
But to enact real policies that protect our coral reefs and oceans, I first need to get a fin up on Rick Scott. And with his approval rate dropping and me catching up in the polls, now is the time to seas this opportunity, friend.
So in honor of Coral Reef Awareness Week, will you chip in $5 now to kelp me raise $200,000 and join me in the fight to win Florida and keep the Senate blue?

Florida’s natural beauty and unique environment are one of the many things that make it so special — let's keep it that way.
Thank you,
Debbie
