"Trump officials reject stricter air quality standards, despite link between air pollution, coronavirus risks"
- The Washington Post, April 14, 2020

Friends,

At a time when we should all be focused on combating the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting our air quality is more important than ever. Sadly, the Trump administration has once again prioritized the interests of polluters over the quality of the air we breathe.

Last week, the Trump administration slashed national air quality standards -- despite clear evidence showing a link between poor air quality and lethal outcomes from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. Making matters worse, low-income communities and communities of color, already disproportionately affected by COVID-19, are also exposed to higher levels of air pollution. This further amplifies their susceptibility.

As a doctor, scientist, former EPA employee, and member of Congress, I am astonished by this administration's anti-science agenda. Now more than ever, our government should be looking out for our environment and public health, not the fossil fuel industry.

We can't let this latest attack on our environment go unnoticed.

On this Earth Day, will you join me by adding your name and demand the Trump administration take steps to protect our planet and our health during this crisis?

Thank you,

Kim
