Dear John,
Like many of you, I've found myself frustrated by politics recently. In times like this, it's important that we engage in the process in good faith, championing local issues and grounding ourselves in the core values that brought us to this work in the first place.
Since taking office in the State Senate last year, we've achieved remarkable progress. We've protected women's right to choose at the state level and secured free breakfast and lunch for all Michigan students with one of the most progressive education budgets in our state’s history. We've expanded voting rights, passed critical protections for Michigan workers, and made significant strides in state policy towards climate change and environmental protection. No matter how hard things feel right now, I still believe in a politics of possibility, where we unite to build a brighter future for all Michiganders. Our accomplishments are a reminder that when we work together, we can have a tangible impact on the lives of everyday people.
