Hi John,
I wanted to tell you the story behind this picture.
When my daughter Helene was little, I volunteered to help in her classroom. I have always believed in the importance of a strong education and wanted to support her public school teachers.
I was shocked by what I saw.
Republicans in the Arizona legislature had slashed the budget for our public schools, leaving us with some of the lowest teacher salaries and spending per student in the US. Teachers didn’t have the support or resources to keep up, and our kids suffered the consequences.
Helene and I stood with the teachers at the #RedforEd protests — but I wanted to do more.
I decided to run for office for the first time because I wanted to be a voice for working families, public school teachers, and kids like Helene.
I ran in Arizona’s 10th House district, and after winning, I fought to fully fund our public schools and universities, make community college more affordable, and invest in technical education programs.
I’m running for US Congress to take this fight to the federal level.
Arizona’s teachers still lack the support they need, especially with the new school voucher program redirecting taxpayer dollars away from public schools. My opponent has voted to slash funding for education programs in Congress, and Trump’s MAGA agenda includes gutting the Department of Education if he wins.
This is about building a better future for our kids.
John, every vote will make a difference in this race. Will you help my campaign flip AZ-06 blue so I can fight for Arizona in Congress?
