Hey there, Megan here from Team Sara. If we haven’t met yet, I’m glad to be connecting with you today.
I’ve been working with Sara Jacobs for a long time now (nine years and counting!), and one of the things she relies on me for is, for lack of better words, real talk . I never sugar-coat things, and I’m borderline obsessive about tracking how much money we need to accomplish our goals.
So I thought I’d share some real talk with you directly, instead of just going through Sara. Here goes:
Flipping the House is an expensive proposition. We’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars to compete with a well-funded GOP hell-bent on holding onto their power.
And that money won’t just magically appear. Sure, sometimes big checks are written – and that’s an incredibly valuable resource for many campaigns. But grassroots donations can be – dollar for dollar – even more important. When you’ve got a ton of people pitching in little by little, you’re able to scale up in a way you can’t necessarily do if you’re relying on just a few generous donors.
That’s one reason you get so many emails asking for money. Candidates and campaigns know how critical your support is, and we all know how high the stakes are in November.
We’re still a little bit out from our next fundraising deadline, but I’m writing today to ask if you’ll help us out now instead of waiting for the deadline, so we can get ahead of things. I wouldn’t be asking if it weren’t important – but it goes without saying that we can’t afford NOT to flip the House.
