Almost every week on social media, I get comments like this:

When I made the decision to run for federal office, I knew what I was getting into. Having thick skin is part of the job. But what hurts the most is knowing this kind of bigotry and xenophobia exists at every level of our society. And some of the most ignorant are in the highest level of government right now.

There is no single way to be an “American”. America is a diverse mosaic of all people who’ve contributed to the fabric of our country. That includes all the immigrants who’ve come to live here in peace and contribute. 

To me, it’s our greatest strength.

And if we win this election, I will be the first immigrant ever elected to Congress from the state of Arizona. Let’s make history together — support our movement now.

It’s a shame there are so many with such narrow definitions of what it means to be American or sound American, but I believe there are far more of us who understand the true nature of our strength. Thank you for standing with me and rejecting all forms of racial bias and injustice. 

Together, we will drown out bigotry and xenophobia.
