Fellow Conservative,

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those injured and with the family of Corey Comperatore, an American patriot and hero who lost his life in the horrific assassination attempt on President Trump that occurred in Butler, PA last weekend. The Secret Service’s failure to protect President Trump and his supporters is completely unacceptable. The American people deserve and must get answers and accountability. There can be no whitewashing of this colossal security failure.

This Monday, U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle will testify before Congress at 10:00 AM after she was subpoenaed by House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.).

Americans are demanding answers for the security failure that cost a man his life, critically wounded two others, and nearly claimed the life of a former President and current presidential frontrunner.

It is astounding and outrageous that a sniper could occupy a roof within 150 yards of President Trump and with perfect line of sight.

And we need answers so that it never happens again and so those who are responsible are actually held accountable. Congress will take the first step by questioning Director Cheatle of the Secret Service. But they shouldn’t stop there.

After the testimony, Congress must approve an independent commission to leave no stone unturned in search of what happened.

Mark Morgan, Visiting Fellow in the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation with 30 years of law enforcement experience wrote in an article:

“[W]e're going to have congressional committees doing their thing. We're going to have the DHS IG and Secret Service doing their thing. We're going to have the FBI doing their investigation in the shooting…the commission would act as the umbrella to bring all those things together and to produce a single full and complete comprehensive report regarding just all the circumstances around it,”

Heritage Action fully supports the creation of an independent commission and calls on Congress to approve it as fast as possible.

The greatest existential threat facing the United States today is the People’s Republic of China (PRC), led and controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Our newest website lays out the issue, why it is important, and what can be done. At CounterTheCCP.com you’ll find model legislation for a variety of China-related issues including how states can:

  • Prevent China from buying American farmland
  • Restore American energy independence
  • Protect critical infrastructure
  • End government purchases of Chinese surveillance equipment
  • End Chinese lobbying in their state
  • And more…

Constitutional Justice is Served

On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon granted President Trump’s motion to dismiss the case brought against him by special counsel Jack Smith for willful and unlawful retention of classified documents in violation of the Espionage Act.

The judge dismissed the case on the grounds that Jack Smith’s appointment to special counsel and the funding of his pursuit of Trump violates the Appointments Clause and the Appropriations Clause of the Constitution respectively. The Biden DOJ intends to appeal the decision.

Preserving an atmosphere of education

The rise of smartphones and their proliferation has led to a disruption in students’ education. Use of smartphones, particularly use of smartphones to access social media, has been linked to decreased attention spans, increased mental health risks, multiple forms of digital addiction, and social isolation.

In Virginia, Governor Glenn Youngkin has issued an executive order to curb the use of smartphones in educational settings to promote healthier, more productive educational environments.

Virginia’s Department of Education has been tasked with creating guidelines that will be conducive to education by significantly limiting, or totally eliminating the use of smartphones in classrooms.

Heritage Action is excited to see such an effort and hopes to see it replicated in other states as well.

As always, thank you for all the work that you do. Our nation, now more than ever, needs the work of conservatives like you.
