It is astounding and outrageous that a sniper could occupy a roof within 150 yards of President Trump and with perfect line of sight.
And we need answers so that it never happens again and so those who are responsible are actually held accountable. Congress will take the first step by questioning Director Cheatle of the Secret Service. But they shouldn’t stop there.
After the testimony, Congress must approve an independent commission to leave no stone unturned in search of what happened.
Mark Morgan, Visiting Fellow in the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation with 30 years of law enforcement experience wrote in an article:
“[W]e're going to have congressional committees doing their thing. We're going to have the DHS IG and Secret Service doing their thing. We're going to have the FBI doing their investigation in the shooting…the commission would act as the umbrella to bring all those things together and to produce a single full and complete comprehensive report regarding just all the circumstances around it,”
