John,
On March 12, the day before Parliament was suspended
because of the pandemic, the Trudeau government announced its plan to
accept one million immigrants in the next three years.
Since then, millions of Canadians have lost their job
or been forced to work fewer hours.
The situation has
completely changed.
It may take years for the unemployment
rate to come down to more normal levels.
Does it make sense to
continue to welcome 350 thousand immigrants every year when millions
of Canadians are out of a job?
Of course not!
We should give priority to Canadian workers looking
for a job.
For the moment, Canada’s borders are
closed to most non-residents and there is in effect an immigration
moratorium.
This moratorium should continue after the
borders are reopened, until unemployment has gone down.
And then, we should have a real debate about having a
sustainable level of immigration, instead of the mass immigration that
the Liberals are planning.
John, if you agree that we should
have a moratorium on immigration, sign our petition.
And if you can
afford if in these difficult times, please pitch in $2 to help us fight for the rights of
unemployed Canadians.
Thank you,
-Max
