Hi John,
Welcome back to your Greenpeace newsletter, Stay Connected. A lot has happened since the last time we spoke. A new government brings renewed hope that we can protect nature and planet and with you by our side we will hold them to account and ensure they deliver. We’ll also support the government with our expertise on climate and nature solutions and we’ll unite people for nature to show our new government they must act now.
We have so many powerful stories to tell you in this edition. None of this would be possible without you. Thank you so much for your continued support.
In this edition:
- Project Climate Vote round up
- Thank you for your support to the Stop Shell campaign
- You helped us win at the Supreme Court
- Pledge to ditch Dove products
- The 25 Mile Challenge is back
- Thanks from the Bermuda Triangle!
- 5 tips for sustainable festival fashion – to spark conversations and look amazing
- Inside a climate justice case at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights
Project Climate Vote round up:
As the 2024 election approached, over 200,000 supporters like you worked together to push climate and nature up the agenda.
By numbers:
- 50,000 doors knocked
- 14,000+ phone calls made
- 63,000+ posters distributed
- 10,315 emails sent to candidates
- 223,737 people committed to vote with climate and nature in mind
- 1,000,000+ people saw our voting guide
- 245+ seats flipped to a more climate-friendly party
Together, we’ve built a powerful movement of Climate Voters across the UK that has opened up conversations, empowered thousands to use their voice, and made politicians listen to the needs of the people and planet.
We now have a government that has promised to stop new oil and gas licences, and has a plan for rolling out green energy and warm homes. That is an incredible result.

Thank you for your support to the Stop Shell campaign:
Thank you so much for your support of our Shell campaign. Shell is suing Greenpeace for millions of dollars because of a peaceful climate protest we carried out in 2023. Activists peacefully occupied a moving oil platform to protest Shell’s climate wrecking activities. It’s ironic that they’re suing us when they’re the ones destroying the planet. We should all be claiming damages from them!
Over 190,000 supporters like you have signed the open letter, telling Shell's CEO that the oil giant's lawsuit against us is outrageous. And over 23,000 supporters have donated to our Stop Shell Appeal. We have nearly raised a million pounds, which means our small legal team can face up to Shell’s army of lawyers, and it could help us to keep taking peaceful direct action and campaigning worldwide to stop Big Oil’s reckless plans. That’s what strength in numbers looks like.
Whether you donated, signed our open letter, shared or watched our content or supported the Joe Lycett t-shirt collaboration, your support means the world to us.

You helped us win at the Supreme Court:
A landmark court case has ended with a big win for the climate. The UK Supreme Court has ruled in favour of Sarah Finch and the Weald Action Group in their fight against oil drilling plans in Surrey.
This is your win. This ruling is the first of its kind, and it’s only possible thanks to the support of millions of people like you.
Thanks to your continued support, we've stood up to Big Oil for decades, and this win – supporting climate activist Sarah Finch and the Weald Action Group in their battle – is hugely significant.

Pledge to ditch Dove products:
Dove says they care about ‘Real Beauty’. But there is no beauty in a brand that poisons our planet and threatens the health of our communities. The mountains of plastic waste Dove produces each year is devastating entire ecosystems in the Global South. Their destructive behaviour must end now.
That’s why we’re pledging to ditch all Dove products this Summer, until they:
- Commit to stop the sale of sachets by the end of 2025
- Phase out all single-use plastics within ten years
- Become a true force for good by advocating for these goals at the UN Global Plastics Treaty

5 tips for sustainable festival fashion – to spark conversations and look amazing:
Festival season is here! One of the best things about festivals is getting dressed up in cute, curated festival outfits.
However, festival outfits have a bad rap environmentally, for being all about single-use polyester and sequins. Here’s a better way to dress for a festival, and let your threads do the talking…

Inside a climate justice case at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights:
Climate justice calls for accountability, demanding that those most responsible act to rectify their wrongs, accepting nothing less for those most impacted by the climate crisis.
In April and May this year, a groundbreaking set of hearings at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) for the Advisory Opinion on the Climate Emergency and Human Rights, took place in Barbados and Brazil. The hearings focused on the obligations of states and non-state actors in the context of climate emergency. Greenpeace Mexico, Conexiones Climáticas and Nuestro Futuro Mexico supported 150 delegations who were there to share their stories. Greenpeace International also joined a coalition of legal and science experts to present arguments before the court.
Read more to find out about these crucial hearings to better understand the legal process, the role of Greenpeace International and ally organisations in supporting communities impacted by the climate crisis, and how it connects to the global fight for climate justice.
