📍 Linn County (Cedar Rapids) - I stopped by Foundation 2 to learn more about the team's dedication to helping those in crisis and ways we can end the stigma around mental health.
📍 Benton County (Atkins) - I enjoyed visiting Bloomsbury Farm in Atkins, operated by the Petersen family! Their unique, family-friendly agritourism experience draws thousands of visitors each year.
📍 Tama County (Dysart) - I met with the team at Frontlines United to learn more about their efforts to support veterans, active-duty military, and first responders. They help facilitate reunions between service members to foster connections, provide peer support, and help those struggling with mental health.
📍 Poweshiek County (Grinnell) - Iowa Valley Community College offers the only Gunsmith Technology program in Iowa! I stopped by their Grinnell campus to see this unique program and visit with students who are passionate about the trade.
📍 Butler County (Parkersburg) - I stopped by the Parkersburg Pharmacy to discuss how they serve their town and the surrounding communities. Ensuring rural Iowans have access to excellent healthcare services continues to be a top priority for me.
📍 Chickasaw County (New Hampton) - I sat down with the team at Pub on Pinicon to discuss owning a small business in rural Iowa and enjoy a great meal. Fun fact: they won Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest in 2019!
📍 Floyd County (Charles City) - It was great to meet with the team at the Floyd County Historical Society. From the historic Hart-Parr and Oliver tractors to the origins of animal pharmaceuticals and Salsbury Labs, they do an exceptional job of preserving the county's rich history.
📍 Cerro Gordo County (Mason City) - I hosted a town hall meeting in Mason City where I shared an update on recent legislative victories for Iowans and took questions on border security, protecting social security, and improving trade opportunities for Iowa ag.
📍 Hardin County (Eldora) - I met with Hardin County Emergency Management, Sheriff's office, and Board of Supervisors to discuss critical public safety issues impacting the community, including severe weather and flooding in Hardin County.
📍 Grundy County (Conrad) - I enjoyed meeting with the team at Green Products Company to learn about their innovative work and discuss ways I can help ease the challenges facing small businesses. I will continue working to preserve small business tax cuts and to empower Iowa's Main Street workforce.
📍 Bremer County (Waverly) - I had the distinct honor of presenting Iowa Army veteran and Summer native, Corporal Dickie Johnson, with medals he earned during his service in the Korean War. I will continue to work to ensure our veterans receive the recognition, benefits, and care they deserve.
📍 Black Hawk County (Cedar Falls) - I convened a food security roundtable with farmers, university leaders, and industry experts to discuss Iowa's leadership in agriculture production, research, and the advancement of global food security. Food security is national security!
📍 Buchanan County (Independence) - I visited the new Buchanan County Emergency Operations Center to celebrate the expansion of their emergency and public safety operations. I am proud to have secured federal funding to bring this project to fruition.
📍 Dubuque County (Dubuque) - I celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge in Dubuque with community leaders who live and breathe local conservation! I also introduced a resolution honoring this milestone and the efforts of local conservationists.
📍 Delaware County (Manchester) - I enjoyed participating in the WMT Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade, one of my favorite traditions! There were over 450 tractors this year and we had a fabulous dinner provided by the Delaware County Cattlemen.
📍 Worth County (Northwood) - I stopped by the Worth County Fair to visit the ag learning center, attend the "Meet a Farmer" presentation and catch up with Iowans who were enjoying the fair. There is nothing like fair season in Iowa!
📍 Mitchell County (Mitchell) - I enjoyed touring Twisted River Farm, hearing their story, and discussing food accessibility in rural Iowa. As a working mom, their mission of making fresh, locally grown food conveniently available resonated with me.
📍 Howard County (Cresco) - I stopped by Dr. Norman Borlaug’s Boyhood Farm to meet with the board members and talk about the importance of preserving his legacy. Dr. Borlaug dedicated his life to ending world hunger and his work saved billions of lives.
📍 Allamakee County (Waukon) - It was great to meet with Becky Rae and Paul Weighner from the Allamakee County Farm Bureau to discuss the Farm Bill, the importance of finding a solution to Prop 12, and investing in animal health research.
📍 Winneshiek County (Decorah) - I hosted a town hall meeting in Winneshiek County to share a legislative update and take questions on border security, inflation, and the 2024 Farm Bill.
📍 Fayette County (Fayette) - I hosted a town hall meeting in Fayette County, my 40th in-person town hall meeting since taking office. We discussed returning the government spending process to regular order, supporting our rural communities, and cutting government red tape.
📍 Clayton County (Elkader) - I stopped by Three Rivers FS to discuss the services they provide producers as a farmer-owned agricultural cooperative.
