Friend, I am honored to share two endorsements with you today that mean a great deal to me personally.

One cannot run for office as a Georgia Democrat without being acutely aware of our state’s political history — one grounded in struggle, protest, and ultimate progress, led by the African-American, faith, and labor communities.

Today the progress most of us had assumed was settled is once again in jeopardy. From the dismantling of the Voting Rights Act to the threat to in-person and mail-in balloting, there seems to be no end to voter suppression. It is clear that we must finish the fight for equal rights. This election is everything. We cannot wait another day for justice.

That is why I am incredibly humbled to share with you that Martin Luther King, III and Valerie Jackson have joined us in this journey. They, too, refuse to wait a day longer. It is my honor to receive both of their endorsements in our race for the United States Senate.

Martin Luther King, III served as the fourth President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and continues to advocate for civil and human rights in America and across the world. He is the son of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, and continues along with the King family to carry on their parents’ legacy at The King Center in Atlanta.

“I’m asking you to join me in voting for Teresa Tomlinson for U.S. Senate. True leaders exercise bold action to do what is right. As Mayor of Columbus, Georgia, Teresa tackled tough issues and made transformational change. She made Columbus better through good government, and she will do the same for our state and our country in the United States Senate.”
—Martin Luther King, III

Valerie represented the city of Atlanta as First Lady while her late husband Maynard H. Jackson served with honor and distinction as the first Black Mayor of Atlanta — a first for any major city in the South. Valerie is a business owner, nonprofit leader, and an award-winning radio host, and it is thanks to her efforts that Atlanta had the privilege of hosting the 1988 Democratic National Convention and 1996 Summer Olympics.

“Maynard often said being the mayor of a major American city is the most difficult job in politics. As Mayor of Columbus, Teresa Tomlinson led one of the 25 best-run cities in America. Her years of public service have well prepared her to serve in the U.S. Senate during this difficult time for our country. Join me in supporting this intelligent, accomplished and determined woman as our next U.S. Senator.”
—Former First Lady of Atlanta, Valerie Jackson

Friend, I am honored to have these endorsements, but I need your support in order to compete against David Perdue’s limitless corporate PAC donations. Every donation brings us closer to winning this election, turning Georgia blue and bending the arc of our nation’s history toward justice once again — please pitch in today.
