Dear John,

This Earth Day, I want to take a moment to share why I so deeply believe Cori is exactly the champion we need in Congress today. As Communications Coordinator with the campaign, I talk with volunteers, voters, and supporters from all over the country, which means I get to know what drives us all to support progressive candidates like Cori. The top two answers I hear? Medicare for All and a Green New Deal. Overwhelmingly, our progressive base wants systemic change to address the challenges of the 21st century head-on.

When I was 3 years old, my environmentalist parents emigrated to America, determined to advocate for major solutions to some of the largest environmental challenges of our time—including climate change. I grew up in D.C., America’s seat of power. I witnessed chronic under-funding, under-representation, and hyper-segregation, while power-hungry politicians did nothing. Even so, my parents made sure I knew a few things: no matter who you are, no matter how daunting the challenge, we always have a voice, and we all have an obligation to use it.

I’ve grown up in the climate justice movement. I’ve marched in Washington and St. Louis, trained hundreds of young people to organize and worked with the co-founders of the historic Sunrise Movement. I’ve supported Cori from afar during every race, and I know she is the only candidate in St. Louis who will fight tooth and nail for our future.

No matter the cause, the protest, or the demand, Cori has always stood uncompromisingly on the frontlines. When storefronts burned and neighbors grieved in Ferguson, she was there. When families were separated at the border, she was there. When young people took to the streets to call for global climate action, she was there.

To change everything, we need everyone. So for the sake of our air, water, lands, and the health of every generation to come: I’m asking you personally to invest in us. This Earth Day, chip in a little more or pledge a recurring monthly contribution to elect a true climate champion.
