Dear neighbor,

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest sympathies to the victims of the horrific shooting at Donald Trump’s rally last weekend. My thoughts are with the former president and all those impacted, especially the family of the American who lost his life. Americans should be able to attend political rallies without fearing for their lives. I am also deeply grateful to the brave first responders who jumped into action. Political violence is never acceptable. At the end of the day, we are all Americans.

I was pleased to be back home in Los Angeles County this week, where we welcomed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to highlight a recent $139 million grant to Los Angeles Metro. Along with other Los Angeles-area Members of Congress, I am honored to have championed this funding, which will assist Metro’s development ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games!

More broadly, I am glad to see this meaningful investment in our community’s infrastructure under the Biden-Harris Administration. President Biden’s Investing in America agenda has already improved our nation’s roads, bridges and highways, ensuring our communities are connected. I remain committed to bringing funding for these critical infrastructure projects home to coastal Los Angeles County.

GOVERNANCE REFORM IN LA COUNTY: This month, Los Angeles County officials approved an historic plan to reform the County’s governance structure. The new measures would make our leadership more responsive to shifting needs of the County and more reflective of our rich diversity. These reforms would also empower the rapidly growing AANHPI community across Los Angeles County while enhancing transparency and accountability among elected leaders.

I joined Congresswoman Judy Chu, the Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, and other local leaders to mark this promising new chapter for Los Angeles County.  Image

CALLING ALL VETERANS: Thanks to the PACT Act, which was passed by House Democrats and signed into law by President Biden in 2022, over one million veterans have been granted VA benefits to receive the care they need. The PACT Act was the largest expansion of benefits for toxic-exposed veterans in 30 years.

Today over 1,100 veterans in our community in coastal Los Angeles have filed claims under the PACT Act, and we want to ensure that all veterans entitled to these protections are able to make their claims. If you or a loved one are interested in learning more or filing a claim under the PACT Act, please check eligibility here or reach out to my Los Angeles office.
